Multi-trip travel insurance

If you are a frequent traveller, you may want to consider getting multi-trip travel insurance. This type of insurance covers you or/and your family for multiple trips within a year, even if you travel separately. You can enjoy peace of mind knowing that you are protected from financial losses in case of unforeseen events during your travels, such as:

  • Unexpected medical expenses, including COVID-19 related costs.
  • Delayed, damaged or lost luggage.
  • Flight delay or missed connection, trip cancellation, interruption or delay due to sudden illness or other reasons.

Multi-trip travel insurance is valid for trips up to 90 days in duration. You are also covered for trips within Latvia, as long as you are more than 80 km away from your permanent residence and have booked accommodation for at least one night.

Extended warranty insurance

If you want to use household or electrical appliances for a longer period of time, you may need extended warranty insurance.

  • This insurance covers the repair costs of your products for one more year counting from the expiration date of manufacturer's warranty which is no longer than 2 years.
  • This way, you can avoid paying for expensive repairs or replacements and extend the life of your products. Plus, you can insure all the products you buy with your Citadele account during the purchasing period as indicated in your insurance T&C, not just one.
  • Insurance be valid as well for purchases which is bought in internet shop, 3 days before policy start day.

Purchase insurance

The insurance covers losses occurring from damage or theft within 180 days of purchase. Important: the purchase must have been paid for from a Citadele account.

Insurance payouts will cover the cost of the purchase and serves as an additional guarantee if a purchase is:

  • partially damaged;
  • irreversably damaged;
  • stolen.

The insurance also includes price protection on, for example, electronics, mobile devices, everyday goods and home furnishings, and we will compensate the price difference if the store where you purchased the product reduces the price by more than €20 within 30 days of purchase.
Insurance be valid as well for purchases which is bought in internet shop, 3 days before policy start day.

City Combo

City Combo insures all types of scooters, segways, longboards, snowboards, bicycles and other unregistered alternative vehicles for use in Latvia all year round. Deductible not applied.

How do I make a claim?

You can make a claim by filling in an application form in the Citadele app: More > Insurance > My insurance.

What is price protection?

You will be compensated for the price difference if, 30 days from purchase, the store from which you purchased lowers the price by more than €20.

The following cannot be used for calculating the price difference:

  • gift cards, coupons, savings programme cards or employee bonus programmes; 
  • prices linked with a service agreement, special financing or additional benefits (transport, installation etc.); 
  • prices set if the retailer is bankrupt, in administration or liquidated, if discounts are linked with store rennovations, or if a price is set for cash payments; 
  • special campaigns (such as Black Friday, end of season) and sales; 
  • prices set for special customer categories (club or association members etc.).

Do I need purchase insurance if I have a product warranty?

Yes, preferrably, because it covers incidents not covered by the manufacturer's warranty. such as theft or damage caused by being dropped. 

How do I make a claim if my bicycle is stolen or damaged? What documents do I need to make a claim?

If an incident occurs:

1. Contact the relevant authority to notify them of the incident (medical services, if there has been an accident; the police, if there has been a theft, robbery or traffic accident; the fire service, if there has been a fire; the emergency gas service, if there has been an explosion, etc.), take measures to avoid and reduce losses, ensure that the circumstances of the incident and any damaged objects are photographed or filmed, and contact Balcia Insurance SE as soon as possible.

2. If possible, submit the extent of damage to Balcia Insurance SE:

• If your property is damaged, an invoice/quote for potential repairs or replacement;

• In case of an injury, a statement from your doctor regarding your injury.

3. A decision on your claim will be made and sent to you no later than five (5) days from the time we recieve all the documents we need to determine the reasons, circumstances and effects of the incident and calculate the amount of compensation required.

How soon can I receive compensation?

A decision on the disbursement of compensation will be made and sent to you no later than five (5) days from the time we have received all the documents necessary for determining the reasons, circumstances and consequences of the incident and calculating the amount of compensation. 

How is compensation disbursed?

  • In case of damage to your property: losses can be compensated either with a transfer to your account, or by paying an invoice for repairs or the purchase of a new vehicle.
  • In case of injury: the amount of compensation will be calculated as set out in the description of specific risks.
  • Civil liability insurance: we will compensate the amount requested by the 3rd party who has incurred losses.

Do I have to register my bicycle to insure it?

You do not need to register your bicycle.
