The Common Principles for Switching payment accounts have been designed by the European Banking Industry Committee (EBIC) and the process is available to the customers – private persons – since 2009.

These principles give a way for private persons to move their current accounts from one bank to another within Latvia. This includes also switching of payment services like regular payments and automatic e-invoice payments. When someone wants to switch banks, the new bank undertakes the communication with the new bank.
