What should I do if an accident occurs?

If a road traffic accident (RTA) has occurred: 

1. Inform the State Police or fill in an Accident Statement*.
2. Contact your insurer if you need a replacement car.
3. Take a picture of the scene of the accident.
4. Report the incident to your insurer as soon as possible, but no later than 3 days afterwards.
5. The insurer will evaluate the damage and pay compensation or accept the repairs. 

*You can fill in an Accident Statement if the RTA involves only two vehicles, if both drivers agree on the circumstances of the RTA, if no people have been injured, if no third-party damage has taken place, and if the vehicles have no damage that causes them to be unable or not allowed to be driven.
